“In order for connection to happen, we have to allow ourselves to be really seen.” ~Brene Brown
Being vulnerable is not an easy thing to do. We live in a world where the battle mentality teaches us that we are in a perpetual competition. That emotion makes us weak and to not have certainty makes us foolish. Why would anyone want to open up and be vulnerable?
In this beautiful TEDTalk by Brene Brown, we learn the power of vulnerability. That in order to be creative and authentic, to truly live wholeheartedly, we need to be able to put ourselves out there as imperfect beings. While vulnerability includes shame, fear and guilt, it also includes all the other beautiful aspects of ourselves that allow for deep authentic connection. We can’t numb the negative emotions without numbing the joy, the gratitude, or our creativity.
This is truly an inspiring talk and a much-needed conversation on understanding how we show up in the world. How can you live more wholeheartedly?
